2006 is finally here. Yes I know its March, but until spring gets here I still consider it the previous year. After all Spring is when everything blooms and raises from the dead (damn zombies).
And today I went down to the tidal basin with my friend Renee, to enjoy the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom and the perfect spring day. Nice and sunny with just enough wind to keep you cool. I am going back next week for the parade so will wait till after that to post all of my pics.

As I sit here stuck in traffic on 66 I thought I heard fireworks. But nothing in the sky. Thinking harder on the subject I get the idea that it might be black powder rifles. The road is right next to Bull Run, a famous civil war site. Maybe there is a re-enactment going on.
Have you ever been struck by how many people do not perceive the world around them. Some seem to just go along with blinders on, others have a limited sense and then a very rare few actually notice things on a hyper level. I am luckily cursed with the latter. Cursed because many times I get distracted by all the things around me, thus not allowing me to focus perhaps as well as others. Maybe that is one reason I consider myself a jack-of-all trades but a master of none.
For those that know me, I am a very big guy. And you would think that with that in mind people would see me, but to many times I am at a store and people will almost walk into me. Many seem quite startled and look uppp at me like I had appeared out of the ether. Lord, I am so glad I don’t have those blinders on.
My buddy Joe invited me over to his sons birthday party today. It was very cool seeing all the little kids run around having so much fun. He even got them a moon bounce and luckily the weather held out.
Felt kinda weird though, being the only person without kids but still lots of fun.

I wish I could have taken a picture, but the snow came well after dark and was virtually gone by the time I awoke this morning. It was one of those really light fluffy and slightly wet snows. I left the bowling alley about 10:30pm and just stood there looking up at the sky for awhile, enjoying the feel of the snow on my face. I am sure some of the others seeing me out there with a tshirt on standing catching snow on my nose thought I was crazy (a common thing to call me for some reason)…but it was nice. I realized that this was the last snow of the season and it should be enjoyed for as long as I could.
One of the things I did not do this last year, and I am the only one to blame on this, was to go into DC and take some snow pictures. Timing was just not right, but it is one of my MUST DO’s for the next season.
So after over 4 years it is finally done. Living a lie to myself and hoping on a dream instead of opening my eyes. It hurt for awhile, but now I feel pretty good about things and know I can move forward with a good outlook. This has definately been a karmic payback on the highest of scales. I really don’t know how many women in my past have done everything they could to get my attention when I just was not interested. And how I would remain close to them, not really realizing the pain I was causing by perhaps giving them hope when I didn’t mean to. For all out there that I have done that to, well I am so very sorry. And if its any consolidation to you…it just happened to me in spades.
God I love this place, and today we had perfect weather. So we decided to take one of the river tours. Doug was our guide and he was a hoot. All the flowers are in bloom and the breeze was perfect.

Our first stop downtown was at the Texan Cultural Center….better known as the Alamo. Being a history buff I was really looking forward to visiting this slice of history. Its free to the public and the gardens are very pretty.

So my final part of my Texas trip I visited my friends Jim & Edie. Not only are they putting up with me but also showed me around their great town.

So here I sit at a great bar in Corpus Christi at Lou’s Saloon. Damn it is so good to find a real bar. I don’t have any near where I live.
Now what do I mean by a real bar? Lots of locals, most over 30, small but cheap selection of booze and only cash allowed.
Darla is the name of our barkeep and she keeps us in drinks without batting an eye. Luckily this place is within walkin distance to the hotel!
