Okay, so one good thing about my company is that they hold these “picnics” (aka, Beer Bashes) throughout the summer. In the past these were sponsored by various vendors, like SUN, HP, Dell, etc, but these days we just use our operating capital mostly.
The nice thing about these parties is that you get to meet with a lot of different people from our building. And since we have close to a 1000 people working here there are a lot of people that you will never see/meet otherwise.
Today was the first, of hopefully a few, bashes this summer. We also marked the last week of our facilities manager Jeff as he goes off to better pastures. I can only hope that his replacement is half as good.
I don’t have the pics in any order yet, but here are the raw pics from the bash. I will try and get a gallery setup this weekend.

April Beer Bash 2006
OH! How I hate the weather here in DC! Or more in fact, the lack of ability of the local meterologists in predicting the weather.
So today was supposed to be this grand walkabout of DC, including a nice river boat tour. So I was outside at 9am on a Sunday getting ready to head to the Metro…and I realized it was positivily miserable. Cold…wet…overcast…blah! So I tuned into my one resource for the forcast, our local news radio station and heard “cloudy this morning with chance of showers, changing to rain and thunderstorms this afternoon.” Well Bollocks! I call everyone and tell them it looks like a rainout. Not only do I not enjoy trudging around in the rain and cold, but I have my new camera to think about too.
And oh…yeah…it stays cloudy till about 11:30 when the sun starts coming out. And about an hour later its full out in all its glory! GAH! And all I have to show for what turned out to be a nice day, is two clean loads of laundry. HATE IT!
So each year the Junior League organization puts on a national Bowl-a-thon. And the last couple of years my company has sponsored some teams for the event. For me its just nice to meet people from some of the other companys divisions. I was able to drag a few people from the Noc with me this year. That’s Big Joe and Robert in the pic with me, Suzanne was workin the camera.
As most know, I am not a religious man (thanks OCAF) but everyone keeps asking me “so what you doing for Easter”. Kinda hate telling everyone ‘nuttin, but its true. Just pretty much another Sunday with more stores closed to me. Perhaps the trail will call and I will stretch my legs a little bit. What about everyone else, what are you doing?
Okay…so I spent money. For those that know me, this can be quite the feet. Not that I am necessarily cheap, but I try to be very thrifty. And I HATE spending money unless I have to, so when it comes to buying something that is not a life requirement…well it takes awhile.
So my love of photography has been around since I was a little kid, and other than a little pocket digital camera I really haven’t upgraded my Canon SLR in a very very long time. And after weeks and weeks of shopping and comparing and avoiding and HELLZ I don’t want to spend this money, I finally did it. I got the Canon Digital SLR 20D. And boy howdy, is it neat! Can’t wait to give it a good workout this weekend.
Okay, so the 2006 photo albums are up, well the ones I have so far, it is obviously a work in progress. I am also trying to go back through the old ones and update the look and functionality of each. All of the Cherry Blossom pics are up too, since the trip down to view the parade got rained out. I guess I should feel lucky that I got to see the blossoms when I did, they were gorgeous this year!
