It was only two weeks ago that I flew out of Dulles, but boy have there been changes!
First off, the security check area is no longer on the same level as the ticketing counters. Now it is located on a mid level between that level and the lower baggage claim area. It has also been streamlined quite a bit and seems more efficient than before.
Next, they are doing away (eventually) with the accordion shuttles between the main terminal and the gate areas. For those of you who have not ridden on these shuttles, they basically go up and down on lifts (about 12 feet) to accomodate the different gate levels. Instead there is now an underground train/tram that runs between the areas.
I was quite impressed with the new very futuristic look of both areas. I did not get a photo of the security area (didn’t need the hassle that that would bring), but I got a shot of their construction sign and the train area. Enjoy!
