God I love this place, and today we had perfect weather. So we decided to take one of the river tours. Doug was our guide and he was a hoot. All the flowers are in bloom and the breeze was perfect.

Our first stop downtown was at the Texan Cultural Center….better known as the Alamo. Being a history buff I was really looking forward to visiting this slice of history. Its free to the public and the gardens are very pretty.

So my final part of my Texas trip I visited my friends Jim & Edie. Not only are they putting up with me but also showed me around their great town.

So here I sit at a great bar in Corpus Christi at Lou’s Saloon. Damn it is so good to find a real bar. I don’t have any near where I live.
Now what do I mean by a real bar? Lots of locals, most over 30, small but cheap selection of booze and only cash allowed.
Darla is the name of our barkeep and she keeps us in drinks without batting an eye. Luckily this place is within walkin distance to the hotel!

With all the don’t litter signs around this state you would think that someone would try to clean the beaches here. After all my travels, this area has the nastiest beaches I have ever seen. I hope its just a freak thing and not all the time. But being in the gulf you can almost imagine that this is where all the trash ends up.

Bowling is finished at Nationals and it was a good trip. I only did okay in my events except for singles where I did pretty good. Happy about that. Can’t wait for next year in Reno.

Boy! Got to visit the USS Lexington today. My buddy Rusty was stationed on this ship when we lived together in Pensacola. Kinda odd walking through it now as a museum instead of an active training vessel. Still well worth the tour price and myfriend Jenny, who is not a military/history buff, had fun too.

Ahhh…finally arrive in San Antonio after leaving 28 degree DC this morning. I guess the local officials heard about all the bowlers coming this way as the dogs were set on our luggage (insert your favorite dog sniffing bowlers balls joke here).
