"We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal" Brave words from a brave man. But equallity was always in Jeffersons plans, even if he kept his slaves out back…unless they were sharing his bed.
Man…I sound jaded!

"In this temple as in the hearts of the people for whom he saved the union the memory of Abraham Lincoln is enshrined forever"
These are the words above where Lincoln sits. On either side is the Gettysburg address. People are quite here in Lincolns house….much like a tomb.

Nice day to petal around DC and when tired, just plop under a tree for a nap. It’s so green here in the spring…just gotta love it.

I can’t say just how perfect today is. It’s warm but there is a nice cool breeze so you really don’t notice.
So here I am at the WW2 memorial. This was just constructed last year and was apparently partially financed by Tom Hanks. It may become my favorite memorial, just due to the design. Although it does fill up with people very fast and today there are a ton of kids here. I wonder if this will drift off into vague memory like the cival war sites. Most of the WW2 survivors are getting very old. And soon enough, even their kids will be gone.

Well I almost got run over by the president today. His motorcade came screaming down constitution ave with about 10 cop cars/bikes. I wonder if he saw me and thought "I rule over that little man" and laughed his little snide laugh. Eh, probably not…probably more concerned with matters of natiojal security.

Until a few weeks ago the monument was off limits. Ever since the terrorist attacks no one has been able to go to the top, while they upgraded the security. Just my luck they are closed today for work.

Everyone always seems so busy or uterly board when I am on the Metro. And there seems to be an odd code of silence also, sorta like when you get on an elevator…no eye contact and no conversations. It is always a welcome relief when a group gets on the train, helps kill the silence. To bad today there are no groups.pp

Well its my rare tuesday off from work and I will be spending a good part of it walking around DC. Think this will be a trend throughout the summer, on nice days heading down to the museums. I typically get every third tuesday off, so will set that as my goal.
Today I will venture around the tidal basin since I haven’t spent much time there.
