Well I have uploaded the photos from last weekends convention, Shore Leave.
Well I have uploaded the photos from last weekends convention, Shore Leave.
So today was the last day of the con and boy, it seems to have gone by so fast. I met a ton of new people and had a great time. Can’t wait for next year and what great guests come into town.
Wow, what a great costume contest. I assisted at the after photo area but was able to take pics of pretty much everyone that came off stage. We had a fight between the 2 Barney Jedi masters, Ruble and the purple dinosaur. A tribble that was assimulated by the Borg. And tons more…no pics right now since I used my SLR camera, but will have a photo album up next week.
Not sure who besides me are watching the new Battlestar Galactica show, but it is really good. The new Apollo is played by Jamie Bamber, who I got to see today. From the show I had no clue he was British till he started speaking today.

Jim always takes care of us here at the Hunt Valley Marriot. He has a very dry and sharp wit that just appeals the the Brit in me.
So…what famous celebrity does he look like?

Here I am having a nice drink and a burger and the entire X-Men invaded the bar. What a rukus!

So today I have been helping out around the convention and finally got to sit in on one of the talks. Amanda Tapping, Carter from the TV show Stargate SG1, took questions this afternoon. Very nice, articulate, beautiful and surprisingly tall were my first reactions. She spoke for an hour and will be signing autographs this afternoon. Can’t wait!

So the first day of Shore Leave is over. I made the trek (no pun) to Hunt Valley, MD early in the morning. This weekend I volunteered to help out at the show, mainly to meet some new people. And also I have Larry and his family here with me for the weekend.
The con on Friday is always slow, basically just setup for the show. My first duty was helping with the blood drive. And while doing that I decided to go ahead and give blood for the first time. It went very smooth and I am very glad that I did it now.
I ran into my counterpart today, Jon Hunter. Course with us having virtually the same name we often get the hotel operator confused. He’s a good guy and always happy to see him at these shows.
This evening we had a meet the pros event with all the writer guests. I assisted with the org and clean up. It was good, but by midnight I was more than ready for bed. I will try to take some cool pics tomorrow.
